Sandeep Kumar had the technical skills for his job, but one part of it terrified him: client calls in English. As a software developer at a Lucknow services firm, he could write flawless code and read documentation without trouble — yet the thought of speaking live to a client made his voice shake. For weeks he found reasons to let colleagues take the calls.
He enrolled in the Fluency Accelerator with one specific goal, and he told his coach exactly what it was. The classes trained the thing he needed most: thinking in English instead of translating from Hindi in real time. Rapid-response drills, opinion rounds, and storytelling slowly rewired how quickly he could build a sentence out loud.
Alongside the live classes, Sandeep kept the daily ten-minute speaking habit religiously, often practising the exact phrases he would use on a call — greetings, status updates, asking a client to repeat something politely. What had felt impossible in isolation became routine through repetition.
A few months in, Sandeep volunteered to lead a client call himself. It went smoothly — so smoothly, he said, that “nobody could tell I had ever been nervous”. He now takes client calls as a normal part of his week, and has started coaching a junior colleague who used to hide from them, exactly as he once did.
